Pride of Lowell was an accident. Max and Patrick (Battle Trance) were on tour with Aella (a trio with Norwegian saxophonist Mette Henriette Martedatter Rølvåg) in July 2011. Mette bowed out halfway through the tour due to the shock of the Oslo and Utøya killings. The boys were left to fend for themselves and played their first gig as a duo in front of a tepid audience in Lowell, MA. Max joked that the new duo would call itself the Pride of Lowell. The locals were not amused.
Four days later Pride of Lowell had evolved. Proud and secure after a short tour in their new duo format, this two-headed leviathan recorded several improvisations in Paramus, NJ. This is the result.
